No. DownloadEra runs entirely in your web browser. There is no app to download, no Chrome extension to install, and no software to set up. It works on any device with a modern browser — iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac, Chromebook, or tablet.

DownloadEra supports HD video download at 720p, 1080p, and 4K (Ultra HD) — depending on what quality the original uploader used. We also support 360p and 480p for smaller file sizes.

For YouTube, we additionally offer audio-only downloads in 128kbps, 192kbps, and 320kbps MP3 quality.

Most videos download as MP4, which plays on all devices and platforms without needing extra software. YouTube audio downloads are available as MP3 or WAV. We always recommend MP4 for video and MP3 (192kbps or above) for audio.

Yes, if the original creator uploaded the video in 4K. DownloadEra will show 4K as a download option whenever the original video supports it. If you only see lower resolution options, the original video was uploaded in that resolution.

No. DownloadEra can only access videos that are publicly available — meaning any user can watch them without logging in. Private videos, unlisted videos that require a direct link, and age-restricted content requiring sign-in cannot be downloaded through our tool.

Currently, DownloadEra processes one video at a time. Paste individual video URLs for each download. A playlist download feature is on our roadmap — follow our updates for news on this.

Yes. DownloadEra is a safe video downloader that requires no installation, no account creation, and no personal data. We don't inject malware, show malicious pop-ups, or redirect you to unsafe sites. All connections use HTTPS with 256-bit SSL encryption.

No. We operate a strict zero-log policy. We do not store the URLs you submit, the videos you download, your IP address for tracking purposes, or any personally identifiable information. Your download goes directly from the platform's servers to your device — DownloadEra does not store your files.

No. DownloadEra downloads standard video files (MP4, MP3) to your device — the same formats produced by any video editing software. These files pose no more risk than any other downloaded media file. We recommend downloading only from trusted URLs.

Downloading videos for personal, private use sits in a different legal category from commercial redistribution in most jurisdictions. Many countries recognise personal use exceptions in copyright law. However, most platform Terms of Service prohibit downloading without explicit permission.

What is clearly not acceptable under copyright law: re-uploading downloaded videos to other platforms, using them in commercial projects without a licence, or profiting from downloaded content. Always download content you have rights to, or for strictly personal use.

Try disabling your browser's pop-up blocker for downloadera.com, as downloads sometimes trigger a pop-up warning. On mobile, ensure your browser has permission to download files in your device settings.

If the issue persists, try Chrome — it tends to have the most reliable download behaviour across all platforms.

Make sure you've copied the full video URL directly from the platform — not a forwarded version from a messaging app, which may have been modified. URLs should start with the platform's domain (e.g., youtube.com, instagram.com, tiktok.com).

Try copying the link fresh from the platform.

The download may not have completed fully — check the file size. If it's unusually small, delete it and download again.

If the file still won't play, try VLC Media Player, which handles virtually every video format and is free on all platforms.

This means the creator originally uploaded the video in that resolution. DownloadEra cannot upscale video — we can only offer the qualities that exist in the original upload.

Very new videos sometimes haven't finished processing all quality levels on the source platform; try again after a few hours.
